In Silicon Valley, Dave Ring worked in manufacturing and finance for ROLM and then joined Cisco Systems as VP of Manufacturing, a position he held while the company grew from startup to Fortune 500. He was also on the Board of Directors of Cisco and four other venture-backed startups.
Dave’s interest in community issues began in junior high school when he and another student proposed an alternative plan for ending racial segregation in Miami public schools. He has been active in many philanthropic organizations, political campaigns, and neighborhood associations, bringing his strategic, organizational, and analytical skills to the challenges at hand.
Dave joined the Healdsburg Forever Grants Committee in 2009, subsequently becoming its Co-Chair and also a Board member. Dave has been active in local environmental issues, serving as Vice Chair and Secretary of the Clean Water Coalition of Northern Sonoma County. He has also volunteered with the Acumen Fund, which works to encourage entrepreneurial solutions to global poverty.
Dave and his husband, Stu Harrison, live in Healdsburg with their energetic dog Sally. Dave enjoys growing Cabernet Sauvignon grapes as well as many different kinds of orchard fruit. He also enjoys genealogical research and the resulting relationships with newly-discovered cousins in many countries around the world.
Dave is a graduate of Harvard College and Stanford University’s MBA program.
