Herbert Polesky often joked that his career was defined by two red fluids, blood and wine. An internationally recognized expert in blood banking and transfusion medicine, he embarked upon a second vocation as a California winegrape grower when he and his wife Susan Lentz purchased property near Healdsburg in 1989. As much as he loved his home and
vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, he was also a world traveler. He leaves a legacy of dedication to excellence and to advancing opportunity for all persons, especially opportunity for access to quality health care.
