Healdsburg Area Fund Grants

The goal of the Healdsburg Area Fund's (HAF) grant programs is to strengthen our communities through supporting the work of a broad spectrum of charitable organizations and groups serving the needs of all communities within the Healdsburg-Geyserville Area (ZIP codes 95448 & 95441).

The due date for the next round of grants is February 19, 2008.

In addition to the grants described below, HAF also has established a new pilot program of Executive Roundtables with two goals: 1) to provide current, useful information and materials on management and organizational issues to small local community benefit organizations, and 2) to promote a sense of shared purpose and mutual support among those who attend the Roundtables.

The Healdsburg Area Fund will provide two types of grants, with awards of up to $5,000, to strengthen charitable groups and organizations that are already contributing to the community.

  1. Community Building Grants include events, activities and programs that build interconnections among residents in the Healdsburg-Geyserville area; that promote community or celebrate the history and historical contributions of cultural groups living in the area; or that otherwise develop a spirit and sense of belonging in the community; (Click here for application materials)

  2. Organizational Capacity Building Grants for nonprofit and charitable groups include projects to secure technical assistance for training boards and staff, developing administrative infrastructures to stabilize or strengthen operations, planning for a sustainable future, assessing issues of strategic importance and evaluating the organization's contributions to the community. (Click here for application materials)

Applicant organizations may make only one grant request per year and grants awarded will be for a one year period.

In addition to the above two types of grants, the Healdsburg Area Fund will provide small grants, as budget allows, responding to the emergency needs of local charitable organizations. Specifically, nonprofits faced with an emergency situation that involves unanticipated expenses - due to events out of their control - that disrupt their ability to function may apply for an Emergency Grant. Organizations needing emergency support should call Joe Valentine at 579-4073 x 12

ELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS

Incorporated charitable organizations having received a 510(c)3 from the IRS, unincorporated charitable groups sponsored by a 501(c)3 and citizen groups organized for charitable purposes that serve the Healdsburg - Geyserville Area will be eligible to apply. Any service or activity proposed must occur in the Healdsburg - Geyserville Area. Unincorporated organizations may apply if: 1) they have a structure (e.g., a stated mission or purpose, officers, membership, etc.) that will ensure accountability for grant funds: 2) they exist for charitable purposes; and 3) they provide benefits to a broad, non-exclusive audience. Wherever practicable, unincorporated groups are encouraged to secure the fiscal sponsorship of a local 501(c)3 organization.
