Affiliates of the Community Foundation - Making Local Communities Better
Sonoma County has changed significantly since our Community Foundation was founded in 1983. Communities are larger and have much more complex and individualized needs. Affiliates provide a vehicle for donors to enjoy the centralized management and administrative resources of Community Foundation Sonoma County while, at the same time, targeting their charitable interests to the local communities in which they live and work. An affiliate "piggybacks" on the well-established organizational infrastructure of the Community Foundation, including its backoffice information technology, financial, legal and administrative systems and expertise, investment services and its programming and grantmaking experience and systems. However, the actual granting decisions and advice are accomplished by the Healdsburg Affiliate Board, who bring community-specific knowledge and expertise to address the unique needs of the local community. The Community Foundation's Board has delegated grant making authority to the Healdsburg Affiliate Board for this grant program. The Healdsburg Area Fund is the first established affiliate of Community Foundation Sonoma County.
