If you have not yet thought about what will happen after you're gone, we encourage you to do so, as spelling out your wishes will make a difficult and emotional time easier for your family and friends.

But I don't do financial or estate planning. Nearly everyone does financial or estate planning - you just don't realize it. When you fill out life insurance or 401(k) forms for your employer you are required to choose a beneficiary and a contingent beneficiary. Naming the CFSC Healdsburg Endowment as one of your beneficiaries can be one of the best and easiest ways to include your community in your plans. In fact, tax-deferred retirement plans may be heavily taxed if left to anyone other than a legally recognized spouse. But I don't make enough money. Sometimes planning for what will happen after our death can seem unreal with little connection to today. But I have children to take care of. You should absolutely ensure that your children are provided for once you're gone. but it is possible to take care of your kids and your community too. There are many ways to include both your children and the community you care about in your estate plans. Having the CFSC Healdsburg Endowment in your plans does not mean your children will be forgotten or given short shrift. Because you love and care about your children, it's important that their inheritance include not just financial assets but gifts that lead to a better world and a brighter future.

Established in 2003 and managed by a committee of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, the CFSC Healdsburg Endowment awards financial grants to nonprofit groups that directly benefit residents of the greater Healdsburg area, including Geyserville, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, and parts of Russian River Valley (USPS Zip Codes 95448 and 95441).
