Education Grants
Application Process and Due Date:
- Education Grants require a two-phase application process:
- Applicants initially submit a Letter Of Intent which summarizes
their proposed project. Applicants should call Robert Judd at 579-4073 x 15
to discuss their project before submitting a Letter Of intent.
- Instructions for Letters Of Intent are available here.
- Letters are reviewed by staff and a committee of the board. Those
letters which best meet the priorities for an Education Grant are invited
to submit a compete application.
- Letters of intent are due at the Community Foundation by January 22,
2008
Education Grant Criteria:
Education Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to nonprofit organizations
providing services in school settings involving the areas of arts and
humanities; the environment; and health and human services. The specific
requirements in each area are as follows:
- Arts Education: Hands-on programs of education in the arts, either
delivered by arts organizations working in collaboration with class room
teachers, or by arts organizations delivering performance training/
instruction in the arts for primary and/or secondary school students.
- Environmental Education: Hands-on education programs, delivered in
coordination with school science curriculum, to students either in class or
in the field, by environmental organizations and focusing on creating an
understanding of the importance of habitat connectivity.
- Health and Human Services Education: Experiential education activities
delivered by a community-based nonprofit organization in collaboration with
class room teachers and designed to engage school students to better
understand and deal with issues of diversity.
Preference will be given to programs that engage students over a period of
time sufficient to aid in assimilating their new experiences and providing a
structured process of review to improve and test comprehension.
Education Grant awards will be announced in July and funds will be available
in August. The grant period is from September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009.
