A donor-advised fund is established with $10,000 or more and provides
an individual or group of individuals with the opportunity to advise on
grants from the fund in partnership with the Community Foundation staff
and with the oversight of the Board of Directors. As component funds of
the Community Foundation, a public charity, donations to donor-advised
funds qualify for full tax advantages. As a donor advisor,
you will have opportunities to learn more about the needs of our community, share your
philanthropic values and knowledge with others, hear the facts from experts
in the field, and be a partner in grantmaking.
An Alternative To A Private Foundation
An advised fund is the perfect vehicle for those who wish to be active
philanthropists and are looking for an alternative to a private foundation.
An advised fund provides the benefit of being an active philanthropist
without the administrative, investment, research and reporting responsibilities
of a private foundation.

Note: All grants are approved or designated for approval by the Community
Foundations Board of Directors. Some guidelines apply: all grants
made must be for charitable purposes and be in line with the purpose of
the fund when it was established. Grants may not be made to pay dues for
membership in an organization, to satisfy personal pledges or obligations
made by the donor, or for any purpose from which the donor will receive
some benefit. |
