When you create a fund at the Community Foundation, we are committed to helping you achieve your charitable goals and encourage you to take advantage of these donor services:
Recommend Grants
Online
Through Donor Central, our online service, you can easily recommend grants at anytime. With just a few clicks, you can make additional grants to groups you’ve already supported. In addition, you can research thousands of organizations that have received grants through the Community Foundation and our donors.
Upon opening your fund, you will receive your Donor Central password and log-in instructions.
Paper Document
If you prefer submitting a paper document, you have the option to print out a Grant Recommendation Form (pdf) and mail or fax (707.579.4801) to the Community Foundation.

Manage Your Fund
Through Donor Central, you can view transactions into and out of your fund, which keeps you informed of all current activity. In addition, printed quarterly fund statements provide you with current investment performance and details on all your gift and grant activities.
Expand Your Giving
Through our Partners in Philanthropy program, we invite you to learn about special funding opportunities available only to our donor advisors.
Get More Involved
We offer many donor activities for you to get more involved in relevant issues. These provide opportunities to expand your community interests, deepen your knowledge of local nonprofits and increase the impact of your giving.

Greg Young, a Community Foundation donor advisor, talks of the rewards of supporting a nonprofit organization with a local branch in Sebastopol. "I belong to Bread for the Journey because I want to support local start-up organizations that need a little boost to achieve their vision. That boost is often money, but sometimes it's simply asking the right question like, 'What is a business plan and why do you need one?' Watching these seeds sprout is even more rewarding than I had dreamed; meeting people who have the passion and knowledge to make our community a better place is an amazing experience. Helen McStravick’s commitment to caring for those in need spans her lifetime and continues today through her donor-advised fund with the Community Foundation Sonoma County. After Harry’s death in 2001, Helen has continued to make grants from their donor-advised fund to support the mentally ill homeless population in Sonoma County, and she will leave the remainder of her estate to do the same. It’s comforting as she grows older, “a gift for me,” she says, and a way of honoring her husband’s wishes and extending her reach in the community. More…
