Sonoma County is fortunate to have many multi-service agencies that provide both local and county-wide
services. In 2002 the Community Foundation awarded grants totaling $8,536,932 to support nonprofit
organizations serving all of Sonoma County and for the completion of the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center. See below the listing of county-wide grants made in 2001.

Grants Made to County Wide Organizations
100 Black Men of Sonoma County: $ 9,650 for the Miracles of Mentoring Program; $5,750 for the Miracles of Mentoring Programs.
Actor's Theatre: $20,000 to bring theater arts to low-income elementary school class rooms through the "Play School" program.
Alzheimer's Association, North Bay Chapter: $1,000 in support of the Memory Walk.
American Cancer Society: $2,000 for general support for the "Some Like It Hot" benefit.
Boy Scouts of America/Redwood Empire Council: $5,000 to extend scouting to underserved areas;
Brush Creek Nursery School: $8,000 for the Brush Creek Nursery School Scholarship Fund.
California Human Development Corp (CHDC):$5,000 for general support.
California Parenting Institute (CP1): $3,746 to fund a facilitated strategic planning process for Raising A Reader; $25,000 to apply to loan payment for building purchase; $25,000 for general support; $3,000 to train non-profits about family law resources; $28,255 for director's salary, expenses and annual operating expenses for Raising A Reader; $5,753 for operating expenses for Raising-A-Reader.
Canine Companions for Independence: $14,500.00 for operating expenses; $2,000 for general support.
Catholic Charities: $30,000 for the Perinatal Housing Program of case management and $2,000 for the Family Support Center to help support the Sister Teresita Children's Center; $3,285 to continue citizenship work in connection with the Renewing Civic Life project; $20,000 to assist low-income immigrants to become eligible for safety net services through completing the naturalization process.
Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center: $4,000,000 to fund construction and development costs for the Santa Rosa Museum through the end of June 2002; $1,000,000 for construction and development costs; $1,400,000 to fund construction and development costs for the Museum.
Community Child Care Council of Sonoma County: $1,254 to fund a facilitated strategic planning process for Raising A Reader; $9,916 to provide ongoing support to the operations of the Raising A Reader program; $28,898 for director's salary and expenses and annual operating expenses for Raising A Reader; $22,005 to provide ongoing support to the operations of the Raising A Reader program; $ 3,187 for expenditures purchased by Community Child Care Council for the portion of the Raising A Reader Program funded by Prop. 10; $41,108 for Raising A Reader expenses.
Community Resources for Independence $24,000 to provide permanent housing and support services for homeless disabled mothers and their children; $7,200 for an emergency fund to assist disabled low-income individuals with costs of securing housing.
Council on Aging of Sonoma County: $250 for general support; $15,000 to support the "Meals On Wheels" program in responding to a large increase in requests for services from low-income seniors.
Cultural Arts Council of Sonoma County: $500 for general support for Art Trails.
Face to Face/Sonoma County AIDS Network: $5,000 for support of the XV Annual Art for Life Auction and Preview; $5,000.00 for general support of Aids Hospice; $20,000 to support the operation of HIV prevention and volunteer client assistance services to high risk youth, Latinos and gay and bisexual men.
Food for Thought: $5,000 for general operations.
Friends House: $5,000 to help fund the new property or where there is the greatest need.
Giant Steps Therapeutic Equestrian Center: 1,000.00 for general support; $10,000 to fund scholarships for the therapeutic riding program; $5,000 for board development and strategic planning.
Girl Scouts of Konocti Council: $5,000 for sponsorship for Jewel of a Woman dinner.
Humane Society of Sonoma County: $50,000 to match a grant from the Kresge Foundation; $2,000 for general community support; $1,000.00 for general support; $178,000 to complete the campaign and to qualify for the Kresge Foundation grant.
Jewish Family & Children's Services: $2,500 for general support of the Step to Work family loan program.
Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy: $8,000 for general operations.
League of Women Voters of Sonoma County: $2,000.00 for voter education expenses.
Luther Burbank Center for the Arts: $10,600.for general support; $15,000.00 to offer hands-on workshops that deepen student's theater experiences through interdisciplinary, interactive arts activities; $750 for partial sponsorship of the Martha Red Adams exhibit; $100,000.00 for capital improvements during fiscal year 2002-2003.
Northern California Center for Well-Being: $4,000.00 to create a program and infrastructure that will support a resource development program.
Occidental Arts & Ecology Center: 15,000 to increase the level of ecological literacy among students by nurturing school garden projects that integrate environmental curricula into schools.
Ocean Song Farm & Wilderness Center: $500 to support the 3rd annual Sonoma County Earth Day Festival.
Pacific Coast Air Museum: $1,000 for general support of the "Wings over Wine Country" air show.
Planned Parenthood Golden Gate: $250 for general support.
Redwood Empire Food Bank: $500 to provide food for needy children; $500 for general support.
Redwood Gospel Mission: $10,000 for the general operating fund.
Rural California Broadcasting (KRCB): $1,550 to train staff to develop and conduct outreach activities that enhance the value of programming; $7,200.00 for general support; $100,000.00 for a third grant for equipment upgrades; $100,000.00 for a fourth grant for equipment upgrades; $20,000.00 for digital conversion; $1,500.00 for 90 second spots for TV or classrooms, produced Sonoma County from oral/video histories with Pearl Harbor survivors;$1,000.00 for general support of KRCB Youth Radio Sonoma County.
Santa Rosa Junior College Foundation: $500 for the Bob Sharp Environmental Scholarship for the 2002-2003 academic year; $500.00 for Paralax Digital lab equipment; $500.00 for the machine Tool Department to purchase a digital measurement tool.
Santa Rosa Symphony: $6,500 for support of "Child of Our Time"; $12,500 to support "Child of our Time" educational programming; $1,300.00 for general operations;$5,000.00 to help underwrite the guest conducting performances of composer John Adams; $500.00 for operating expenses; $10,000.00 for the symphony education program; $50,000.00 for general operations.
Sonoma Academy: $110,000 to establish a new high school; $110,000 for general operating support.
Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging: $1,000. to support the Senior Art Show held on May 16, 2002 and to support the Elder Abuse Prevention Conference held on May 29, 2002.
Sonoma County Conservation Council: $1,500 for general support of programs and to support volunteer services,library and web site.
Sonoma County Museum: $10,000 to support curatorial expenses of mounting an exhibit of the works of Hassel Smith; $2,500 for general support;$7,000 for unrestricted general operations;$5,000 for exhibition expenses $25,000.00 for exhibitions; $5,000.00 for general support.
Sonoma County Peace and Justice Center: $10,000 for capital funds for new building.
Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue: $2,000.00 to develop short and long term resource development plans for the organization.
Sonoma County Wineries Foundation: $1,000 to benefit the multiple charities "Fund In Need" 2002 Showcase of Wine and Food event.
Sonoma Land Trust: $35,000 for the repair, maintenance and operation of Glen Oaks Ranch; $5,000.00 to provide $4,000 for the Opportunity Fund and $1,000 as unrestricted funds; $250.00 for general support in preserving Sonoma County land; $500.00 to support the Land Trust's programs through the Sonoma County membership contribution of Lynn and John Schiek.; $20,000.00 for the opportunity fund ; $1,000.00 for general support; $1,500.00 to sponsor the Laguna event for $1,000.00; and $500.00 for general operations.

Summer Search Foundation Napa/Sonoma: $25,000 to promote change in students that is both profound and lasting in becoming more resilient and in creating higher achievement expectations.
Sunburst Projects: $1,000 to support the summer day camp program; $1,975.for the Camp Sunburst program providing summer day camp programs and support services for children with HIV/AIDS.
Sustainable Sonoma County: $1,500.for support of the climate protection campaign.
Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa: $5,038.for expenses of the annual Sutter Medical Center Resident Retreat.
United Against Sexual Assault of Sonoma County: $25,000 to help prevent sexual violence among teens through workshops presented to both middle and high school students.
United Way of Sonoma-Mendocino-Lake: $20,000 for the general fund; $100,000.00 for the special campaign; $25,000 for general support; $61 for United Way Safe Havens program; $15,000.00 for general operations; $16,700 for the CAP Coordinator's salary; $2,400 to support the Safe Havens program.
Volunteer Center of Sonoma County: $25,000 for the 2002 Major Donor Campaign; $20,000 to sponsor the annual Sweetheart Ball; $10,000 to support the operations of the Resource Center for Nonprofits.
YWCA of Sonoma County: $7,750 for general support.
